What services do we offer?

The John Anthony Centre provides a free and confidential service to people of all ages and backgrounds. You will not be judged in any way and your concerns will always be dealt with in a sensitive manner.

The John Anthony Centre provides:

  • Free condoms

  • Testing and treatment for STIs, including HIV

  • Information and advice on all contraceptive methods

  • Emergency contraception (morning-after pill)

  • A range of contraceptive pills and the long-acting injection

Directions by car or on foot
If you are travelling from the north or east of the city please follow the signs marked Hospital / A&E. At the roundabout beside Worcestershire Royal Hospital do not enter Charles Hastings Way but go straight across the roundabout following signs for City Centre. The John Anthony Centre is to be found three quarters of a mile along the Newtown Road on the left hand side.

If you are travelling from Worcester city, Newtown Road is the first turning on the left past Shrub Hill Railway station. As you exit the railway tunnel, the John Anthony Centre is to be found one mile on the right hand side before the turning for Canterbury Road.

Directions by train
If you are travelling by rail please get off the train at Shrub Hill station and follow the directions above. Visit the First Great Western website for train times.

Directions by bus
If you are travelling by bus from the city centre, buses 31, 31A and 31C all stop opposite the John Anthony Centre. Just ask the driver to drop you off at Canterbury Road. Visit the Worcestershire County Council website for bus times.

Appointments available at the following times:

Monday: 08.30-19.00

Tuesday: 08.30-16.00

Wednesday: 08.30-15.30

Wednesday: Under 21’s Walk In clinic 16.00-18.30

Thursday: 08.30-16.00

Friday: 09.00-11.30

Appointments for routine Contraception and Sexually Transmitted Infection concerns will be available to book 24 hours in advance by phoning: 0300 123 1731 from 08.30 each day Monday to Friday

Appointments for intrauterine contraceptive devices (coils) and contraceptive implant fittings can be made up to 2 weeks in advance by phoning: 0300 123 1731 during the clinic opening hours.
